A play about male suicide and testicular cancer? That’s bound to be a barrel of laughs…

It’s often said that men aren’t good at talking but, that’s not strictly true. They talk about football, women, work, money – all sorts of sh*te.

What they don’t talk about is themselves; how they are, how they’re feeling, what they’re thinking, what they’re worried about. And they don’t check themselves – they, very likely, were never taught to!

‘The Naked Neds’ tackles (excuse the pun) this head-on, and it does it colourfully, with laugh-out-loud humour, and believable – and likeable – characters.

A chance conversation with the writer, before the show (he was flyering), let us hear how proud he is of this show. He has every right to be. It’s touching, informative, educational, funny, and delivers a wonderful sense of hope – that men can change how they are, that it’s okay to check yourself, that it’s okay to not be okay and need to tell someone, and that it’s okay to check-in on your mates (actually, it’s brilliant). It’s a strength, not a weakness.
