EDELLE MCMAHON – STUPID LOVE SONGS
13 June @8:00 pm
| €20Emyvale’s Edelle McMahon is a high-end singer-songwriter who effortlessly blends punch, panache, and passion in her music.
The North Monaghan region has long been an eclectic hotbed of musical activity and a breeding ground for immense talent. This rich tradition continues today, with Edelle emerging as one of the latest original and uniquely gifted artists shaped by this maelstrom of creativity.
Edelle came to songwriting in her early 30s and released the excellent album Adventures in Narcissism in 2017. Like many musicians, her momentum was significantly impacted by the Covid pandemic. However, she has returned with remarkable strength and determination, culminating in her powerful new album, Stupid Love Songs.
This latest work is a triumph—showcasing verbal dexterity, emotionally resonant songwriting, vocal brilliance, and richly layered soundscapes. By the time listeners reach the final track, they are left ecstatically overwhelmed. The closing song is a joyful, uplifting burst of energy that quickly gets the audience back on their feet, dancing along to Edelle’s trademark humour and spirit.
In 2025, Edelle performed three sold-out homecoming concerts—two at Laragh’s Tin Church and one at ‘1881’ in Smithborough. The electrifying response from local audiences provided the final spark of inspiration for this new album.
This upcoming concert offers a wonderful opportunity to celebrate not only Edelle’s remarkable artistry but also everything that is magical and inspiring about North Monaghan and the entire border region.
While Edelle is often seen as a one-woman whirlwind on stage, this album launch sees her joined by a phenomenal backing band, adding even greater depth and energy to her already captivating performances.
