Tarry Flynn

by Conall Morrison

A new production of this award-winning adaptation of Patrick Kavanagh’s novel, ‘Tarry Flynn’, will be presented at the Garage Theatre on Thursday 16th  February and  Friday 17th February.

This production of ‘Tarry Flynn’ is extraordinarily ambitious in scale and content – it will be one of the biggest-ever stage dramas presented by the Iontas Theatre. Scenes merge into each other, characters transform themselves into animals and the whole seething tumult of a riotous imagination is on display. The play is a moving evocation of rural Irish life at a time when life and the land went hand in hand

Poet/Farmer Tarry reads Byron, and dreams of romance with Mary Reilly. When we first meet him, Tarry is 27 but has never so much as kissed a girl. When female attention does come his way, he is ill-at-ease, struggling to reconcile his fevered longings with the guilt and inhibition of his upbringing. With his nose in a book, his head in the clouds, his hand on a spade and his heart yearning for love, he is not on the same page as his fellow farmers. Follow his adventures in this lively and engaging production on stage at the Garage  Theatre.

Singing Nina

The Life and Times of Nina Simone

Singing Nina is the fabulous new show brought to you by the Chicago soul Queen, Karen Underwood and her band. Karen brings to you in narration and song the engrossing life story of the great legend Nina Simone, from her struggle against racism and exile from her homeland to her flamboyant and troubled relationships and her poignant later years.

Karen sings all the classic Nina songs, 'Missippi Goddamn', 'Sinnerman', 'My Baby' and 'Love me or Leave me' supported by a live band featuring on piano Art O'Laoire, guitar Eoghan Regan, bass Jerome Rimson and drums Bob Jackson.

A wonderful night to reminisce, rediscover and to get ‘Feeling Good’.

Farney Players

Cash On Delivery

by Michael Cooney

The Farney players were formed last year to stage some classic comedy during the bleak winter months! Bringing together a cast from Carrickmacroos and its environs their first play 'Stop it Nurse' sold out 3 weeks before it even opened.

They are back this winter with their 2nd production Micheal Cooneys 'Cash on Delivery' .The decision was made to adapt this script and set it in Carrickmacross in the 1970s.The play follows a day in the life of Eric Swan who has recently been made redundant from the ESB. However he hasn't broke this news to the wife....to keep her in the style she's used to he has invented various characters and is claiming social welfare on their behalf. But the lies and deceit are catching up with him (as they would with any loving husband!), his wife is getting suspicious and his upstairs lodger fed up. Into this fray one morning the social welfare inspector calls and all hell breaks loose .......

The play has sold out its run in Carrickmacross and attracted rave reviews . So get over the post Christmas blues and welcome in the new year with a riotous nights fun!!!
