NEW Theatre for Monaghan

This year, 2003, the Garage Theatre celebrates its Tenth Anniversary. Ten years of terrific entertainment.

The Board has proposed to government a new Garage Theatre in Monaghan town, to include top of the range performance, rehearsal and ancillary spaces.

A local Authority Consultant has identified at least one suitable location, in the town centre.

A funding Application has been submitted to Government and is the subject of vigorous negotiation with the Department of Arts, Sports & Tourism, An Comhairle Ealaion / The Arts Council.

The Board and other interested persons are lobbying Government for the funds necessary to realise this objective which will cost £3.0m approximately. (we are also fund - raising locally)

You can help in one of the following ways

• Lobby your local politician(s), Councilors& T.D.'s

• Attend local meeting(s) in support of New Theatre

• Contribute to New Theatre Fund c/o Garage Theatre, Monaghan (contributions are tax-deductable - make payments to New Theatre Account)

• Write to: Minister of Arts, Sports & Tourism, 43/49 Mespil Road, Dublin 4. or/and Director, The Arts Council / An Comhairle Ealaion, 70 Merrion Square, Dublin2. saying you support the New Garage Theatre proposal and seek its early implementation.

• Pending the New Theatre, the Board is constantly improving facilities foe patrons of the Garage - We hope you continue to enjoy your visits to the Theatre.
